About COMMANDS team:
COMMANDS is acronyme of Control, Optimization, Models, Methods and Applications for Nonlinear Dynamical Systems. This joint project team Inria-CMAP-ENSTA started in January 2008.
The team is hosted in two places: Ecole Polytechnique (Palaiseau), and ENSTA ParisTech (Paris). Both are engineering schools with high level students, many of which continue as PhD students or researchers. The group in Palaiseau is part of CMAP (Centre de Mathématiques Appliquées de l'Ecole Polytechnique), the group in ENSTA ParisTech is part of UMA (Unité de Mathématiques Appliquées). This offers two high level environments in applied mathematics and several opportunities with the other teams devoted to numerical analysis, stochastics and finance, and image processing.
Both groups are involved in teaching in these engineering schools and have therefore many contacts with the students. The full-time permanent members of the team are located either in CMAP (F. Bonnans and P. Martinon) or in Ensta (H. Zidani). In a few years Ensta will move to Palaiseau, on the Ecole Polytechnique campus.
